It’s been a while since I posted anything remotely related to my life. These past 3 weeks or so have been pretty interesting. Jetsetting off to Morocco for Spring Break. Getting konichiwa-ed by Moroccans. Being ripped off by Moroccan kids. Having the most delicious tagine in Fes. Spending the night in the Sahara. I’ll love to go back Morocco again, inshallah.

Philly was really eventful. I’ve concluded that the best Philly cheesteak is still found in Ithaca, and not Philadelphia. I still think Morimoto trumps Nobu, though Nobu was Morimoto’s mentor. And the old classic Mambo songs are still the best to dance to.

Maybe my tastebuds are not sophisticated enough, but I think Adour by Alain Ducasse is not as great a meal as Bouley. Despite Adour ranking higher on the Michelin guide, I thought the meal was good, but not great. Bouley, however, wowed me with their porcini flan appetiser. Almost saw angels singing high above, but not quite yet. I’m still searching for that elusive dish that is so good it will reduce grown men to tears. It will end all wars. It will make life worth living. It will redefine everything you’ve ever tasted. I’m still searching, and I’m not sure I can find it.

Next up, Per Se by kitchen superstar Thomas Keller. If I don’t find it there, I think the answer is not in New York.
