So on our last night in New Haven, we have to give Ibiza a shot. Luis Bollo is the head chef here, but that doesn’t mean anything to me since I have no idea who he is. But I guess credit has to be given to him since the Spanish food here is so fawesome! (not fugly, but fawesome..geddit?)

I like that they gave us appetizers compliments from the chef. Nice touch. The cheese/potato balls were great but the scene stealer was the orange gazpacho. I’m not a fan of cold soup, but this is one cold soup I’ll take anytime =)

Duck confit and scallops. Sinfully good. Too bad the duck confit is not on their regular menu.

Duck breast and short ribs. I think duck is difficult to cook, but they managed to do it so well. The short ribs just melts in your mouth…drools.

Honey-infused ice cream with cheese souffle(?) I can’t remember..but i heart honey-infused ice cream
Food was great, but the door bitch was an unfriendly one. No smiles, no nothing, just absolutely curt. For that, 1.6 thumbs/2 thumbs. Could be higher.
Yea, Yale is a great Ivy with loads of cool looking old buildings but the neighbourhood is just simply…yuck (for lack of a better word). Downtown is all right I guess, but anything outside the 3 mile radius of Yale is not somewhere I would envision myself visiting on a regular basis. That said, Yale does have fantastica restaurants and oh-so-beautiful architecture. Just keep your activities around that beautiful part of the city.

Dinner at Frank Pepe’s The Spot, the less crowded sibling of Frank Pepe Pizzeria. According to Zagat, The Spot is supposedly as good as the Pizzeria but somehow only locals frequent this place. Seeing how they are just next to each other, I can’t see how tourists are willing to wait a god-long time outside the Pizzeria when you could just walk in and get a seat immediately at The Spot. That said, me and C had to try the white clam pie, since we are such fans of the Zagat book. Made with only clams and their special white sauce, it’s supposedly the epitome of the original Wooster St pizza. The damn pizza was so huge and unbelievably carcinogenic and oily. The bottom of the pizza was soot-black. Not just dark brown or the brownish-black you get when you bake a pizza for too long, but a deep soot black. The blackest black you can imagine. I think they just don’t bother with cleaning the wood oven or something. But the pizza was so damn good. None of that greasy cheesy aftertaste that makes you incredibly uncomfortable. Didn’t see God though, so I give it 1.3 thumbs/2 thumbs.

And what’s a visit to New Haven without visiting the Peabody Museum of the Earth? Huge ass skeletons of dead dinosaurs/turtles/birds/fish are the way to go. There was also an exhibit of a real Egyptian mummy, but I was too wussed out to take a picture.

Lunch at Caseus was uber delicious! Mussels and fries and cheese FTW! Omg omg, I can still remember the taste of the mussel broth…1.6 thumbs/2 thumbs
